Like most Australian college kids, Alexia left her country following her third year at Sydney University to spend a year abroad exploring different cultures. She moved to London, England to work and live among the vibrant spectrum of people and cultures. Her European experience gave her a chance to expand her knowledge of fashion and style by mixing the study of old world sensibilities with her intuitive feel for the new world.

In the early 90’s, Alexia moved to New York with her husband and began to create personal pieces from her own designs. Among the first pieces she conceived of at her kitchen table were her signature earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Through hard work and determination, Crawford Creations opened in 1994. Starting with the local flea market at churches, community centers, and the like, Alexia soon realized there was a lot of interest in her creations and took the plunge into the “accessories establishment” single-handedly manning her own booth at the Fashion Accessories Expo.  

In 1995, her company was discovered by Barney’s New York through what Alexia calls, “a variety of events, some lucky and some planned”. This opportunity turned out to be a pivotal moment for the fledging company. Soon, thereafter, her creations were featured in national magazines and introduced to prestigious stores around the world such as Nordstrom, Fred Segal, Isetan in Japan, and David Jones in Sydney.

The company has captivated many fashionable clients and in return has captured a loyal following. The main objectives for each and every collection are innovative design, quality materials, versatility, and excellent price points.
